Adobe Audition Effects Tutorial in Multitrack Sessions

In the Part 3 of the tutorial, you have learned how to implement Dynamic Audio Panning in Adobe Audition. In this part, you will know how to apply effects to multi-track sessions. To do this:

1.) Open the multi-track session project.
2.) Every audio track you have added in the multi-track session has its own/dedicated set of effects rack which you can edit or configure. In Adobe Audition multitrack, the effects rack is implemented using FX tab button as shown below (inside the yellow box):

To add effects, click “FX” then you will see the effects rack window:

FX effects rack

On the left are the installed effects in Adobe Audition, these includes the Direct X, VST effects as well as the built-in effects. To add effects to the audio track, select the effect you would like to add under “Installed Real-Time Effects” and then click “Add”. After adding the effect, you will need to configure its settings; to do this click or highlight the effect under “Current effects rack” and then click “Properties”. You can now configure the settings of that effect.

In this tutorial series, to accomplish the completed sound as stated in Part 1 of the Guitar delay mixing tutorial. Try adding the following effects and its settings:

Track 1 and Track 4 (in sequence):
a.) Delay Effects\Chorus – Preset: Acoustic Duet
b.) DirectX- Antares Tube Drive +2.0dB Omnitube off

Antares Tube

c.) Studio Reverb, settings screenshot below:

This is the track 1 effects rack after adding all those effects:

Note: Antares Tube is not a built-in effect. Click here on how to install Direct X plug-in in Adobe Audition.

Track 2 and Track 3:

a. Delay Effects\Multitap Delay, I use the following settings below:

Try playing all the tracks together and you might notice that your computer will most likely slowdown. This is because of the lot of effects that are applied to the tracks in multi-track. To speed up the rendering of effects in real time, you need to lock down the tracks. After you have applied all the effects, click the “Lock” button besides the FX button. This will lock down the track.

For best results it is suggested to lock down track 1 to track 4. This is the screenshot of the multitrack after locking track 1 to track 4. Notice that it will change the current color of the multitrack to gray.

For finishing touches of the mix, you might need to adjust the main volumes so that it won’t clip at 0dB. This is how it sounds like after implementing all effects:
